Introduction to Drinfeld modules

This talk aims to give a short introduction to function field arithmetic and Drinfeld modules. To motivate the definition of Drinfeld modules, we will recall some elements of the theory of elliptic curves over $\mathbb{C}$, and highlight the similarities with the analytic theory of Drinfeld modules. Finally, if time permits, we will briefly discuss Poonen's uniform boundedness conjecture.
